Each fall and spring, a variety of 101 classes will be offered, divided between two, 4-week terms. Within each term, our hope is for you to pick one class to attend as classes will be offered simultaneously. And don’t worry: Classes are offered on a rotating basis throughout the terms each year!
Spring Term 2
April 7 – April 28
If the Bible is the most important book for Christians, it’s worth our while to understand why the Bible matters, how we got the Bible, and how we read and interact with it. This class will cover what Christians believe about the Bible and its message, and practical tools to read and study the Bible for yourself. You’ll walk away excited and confident to study God’s word and savor its truths and promises.

A class designed for any married, engaged, or seriously dating couple. This 101 class addresses common challenges, foundational principles, and practical wisdom from a biblical perspective. This 101 class combines includes large group teaching and small group table discussion with mentor couples and other participants in a similar stage and season of marriage.

Spring Term 1

A 101 class designed to deepen your understanding and articulation of the Gospel, what it means for the believer (and the non-believer), and how to confidently engage in gospel conversations with others. Note: If you’re a Salt Company student desiring to serve as a Salt Company Student Leader next school year, this class is the prerequisite!

Parenting Kids has a new look, and is here to help you tackle the rewarding, yet challenging, call to parent the next generation. Building off of gospel-centered principles, we’ll explore practical ways to parent your kids through the areas of discipline and behavior, materialism and gratitude, social media and technology, and gender and sexuality. Please note: This class will be 3 weeks, starting on Sunday, February 11 and ending Sunday, February 25.

This crash course will help you understand the nature of each stage of your child’s development, and how this impacts all aspects of your parenting approach for the purpose of cultivating a meaningful and lasting relationship.

At this event, we will explore four major challenges facing the Western church, examining the “be true to yourself” mindset, the reduction of Christianity to a privatized faith, the moral revolution against traditional Christian values, and the emergence of non-traditional spiritualities. The conference aims to enhance our understanding of contemporary issues, enabling us to strengthen churches and advance the gospel in the future. Attendees will gain insights to connect with their communities, navigate challenges within their churches, and effectively share the gospel in today’s world.

Dr. Gavin Ortlund is a pastor, author, speaker, and apologist for the Christian faith. He is a husband to Esther, and a father to Isaiah, Naomi, Elijah, Miriam, and Abigail. He serves as President of Truth Unites and Theologian-in-Residence at Immanuel Nashville. Gavin has a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary in historical theology, and an M.Div from Covenant Theological Seminary. He is the author of eight books as well as numerous academic and popular articles. His Why God Makes Sense in a World that Doesn’t won numerous awards. Gavin is a fellow of The Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics, a fellow of The Center for Baptist Renewal, a fellow of Credo, a member of St. Basil Fellowship of The Center for Pastor Theologians, and a Visiting Scholar at Reasons to Believe. He regularly speaks at churches and conferences around the country.
Gavin runs the YouTube channel Truth Unites, which seeks to promote gospel assurance through theological depth. Truth Unites has a dual purpose as both a theological resource to the church as well as an apologetics voice to our culture. In its inward-facing role, it seeks to serve the church with theological education. It especially focuses on historical retrieval and theological triage, seeking to buttress and unify evangelical theology amidst its current fragmentation. It also produces content in defense of Protestantism. In its outward-facing role, Truth Unites seeks to provide a winsome and credible voice to the culture for the existence of God and the resurrection of Christ.

Our Fall 2022 Equip Weekend explored answers to questions regarding God and science issues. Participants attended four sessions to learn about modern scientific evidence for God, proposed naturalistic alternatives, a scientific approach to the biblical account of creation, the Big Bang, and evolution, and what we learn about God through science. Taught by Dr. Mike Strauss.
Our Spring 2022 Equip Weekend explored Blueprint Foundations: understanding how our unique stories, abilities, passions and contexts bring focus to a gospel-centered life design powered by Younique to provide a sense of clarity, courage, and calling for our distinct roles in God’s redemptive mission. While breakout session recordings are not available for the public, both main sessions are available in our course archive library. Taught by Cornerstone Staff.
Our Fall 2021 Equip Weekend explored Christian theology and how it relates to mental health. Participants attended both main sessions and focused track sessions in one of the three arenas mental health can most impact a person: in technology, in community, and in vocation.
