Drama

Go ahead. Break down barriers.

Drama done well helps people bring their defenses down. Drama done well in church will also connect people to the message—the Word. Our goal is to do drama well: to break down barriers so people are more receptive to the message, to open an arena for artists to use their dramatic and comedic gifts in worship, and to glorify God.

Opportunities in the Drama Ministry

Actors | A core team of actors participates in sketches in D6 Families, our ministry to children and families, as well as weekend services. Additional actors are added as needed for special events throughout the year. Excellent memorization skills are required to learn scripts quickly. Time required per weekly D6 sketch: approximately 6 hours plus memorization time (includes rehearsals and final presentation). Time required per weekend sketch: approximately 12-15 hours plus memorization time (includes rehearsals and final presentations).

Directors & Assistant Directors | Directors and assistant directors are needed for each sketch to help with stage direction, cues, blocking, character development, costuming, set and more. Directors and assistants also assist back stage during performances. Directors and/or assistants need not be actors.

Hair & Makeup Artists | Before large productions and some sketches, our hair and makeup artists work diligently to help our actors create a look. Sometimes it's basic makeup to enhance their features; other times, it involves prosthetics, masks and intense body paint! You don't have to be a cosmetologist to serve on this team, but some experience with makeup, hair and/or painting is beneficial.

Special Productions | Cornerstone desires to use all areas of the arts, including music, drama, video and dance, to present special productions on a regular basis. From musicals and plays to large group celebrations, our productions offer the challenge of a longer-term rehearsal schedule for a specific outreach and/or celebrational purpose.
