KINGDOM MANIFESTO
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 6 & 7)
Series Dates: February 24, 2008 through June 8, 2008
Jesus’ longest recorded sermon, often called the Sermon on the Mount, is regarded by many as His Kingdom Manifesto. According to the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, a manifesto is a public declaration of intentions, opinions, objectives, or motives, as one issued by a government, sovereign, or organization. The words contained in this sermon “amazed the crowds” who first heard them. This “new wine” burst the old wine skins of the religious crowd and drew in unbelievers with its bold simplicity. Jesus still speaks today through these words, inviting us to hear His words and put them into practice.

Ever feel weak? Do you find yourself wondering if God can use you, knowing what you know about yourself? As we study the second letter of Paul to the church in Corinth we find hope. In these pages we are drawn to the One who is capable of taking weak people and doing extraordinary things through them. He teaches us not to lose heart, but to trust in Christ who longs to transform us into His likeness. We will learn that “we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (2 Corinthians 4:7).
